Oman 2015 (Long Weekend)

Being a neighboring country to the UAE, we've been to Oman a few times.  On this particular trip we wanted to explore Muscat and a day trip down the coast.  Muscat is a great city to visit.  It faces the Arabian Sea and is surrounded by the Hajar Mountains.  At various stages, Oman was conquered by the Persians, Portuguese, and Ottomans.  Matrah Souq is worth a visit - especially if you're in the market for spices and gold.

We had a great day hiking and swimming in the blue waters of Wadi Ash Shab. There's a great treat at the last pool in the wadi - when you swim across the pool to what seems like a impenetrable cliff, there's a small crack about 30cm above the waterline.  Swim into the crack for about 30m (not for claustrophobes) and you enter a hidden cave with an internal waterfall!  On the way home we dropped into (literally) Bimmah Sinkhole and let the fish nibble our toes.
