India 2012 (Spring)

We spent this two week Spring break with our besties - the Brouns.  We based ourselves on Ezhara Beach in Kerala on the southwestern Malabar Coast of India.  Kerala actually means 'land of coconuts' and it was easy to see why.  Kerala is also famous for it's tea, coffee, rubber, cashew, and spices.  In fact, 5,000 year old Sumerian records describe a vibrant spice trade with Kerala.

We had a great time: swimming in the Indian Ocean, playing cricket and cards, Tuk Tuk races, exploring a Portuguese fort, buying local earthenware, and generally 'chilling out'.  Worth a special mention was the amazing Keralan food - deliciously spicy curries, mountains of seafood, fired bananas, tropical fruits, and of course coconut on everything.
